dysfunctional family

You left us on a cold January day
You said you weren’t strong enough to stay

We didn’t always see eye to eye
You and I
But I loved you deep inside
You gave me wisdom or you tried
I will never forget the day you died

The day your family turned cold inside
You kept them together wouldn’t let them fight
Made them bury all that spite

But now the way they treat each other
It just isn’t right
Even death can’t bring their hearts to the light

No grief or sorrow do they show
Brotherly love they seem not to know
The seeds of bitterness are all they can sow

They don’t speak unless its in anger or spite
There is no love it all took flight
You took it with you when you died
As you sit upon your cloud you wish
Your family would make you proud

But instead their hearts are cold and in
Darkness shroud
Not one willing to turn their lives around

Nothing can be done for not one heart will be won
For they feel nothing but anger and can do nothing but shun
What will they say to God when this whole race is run

Lives built on lies and deceit
Don’t they know Jesus keeps receipts
And in the end Satan the change keeps
While up in heaven a mothers heart weeps
